Women's Cross Country Maintain their Championship Title in HBCUAC XC Championship
DECATUR, AL–Congratulations are in order to the Dillard Women's Cross Country team on their impressive performance at the HBCUAC Championship! The championship was hosted in Decatur, AL and the women were tasked with running 6000 meters on October 18 at 11:00 a.m.
They finished 1st with 35 points, winning their fourth consecutive conference championship, and had 4 top 10 finishers. Brooklyn Acosta, Tazia McGee, Kevell Byrd, and Kennedy Timmons all finished in the top 10. Jaelynn Hoffman also had a strong finish in 11th place. Acosta finished 3rd with a time of 27:04, McGee, Byrd, Timmons and Hoffman followed closely behind her with times of 28:12, 28:23, 28:33, and 28:52, respectively.
Coach Nile Legania and Assistant Coach Brandon Scruggs also won their fourth consecutive Coach of the Year and Assistant Coach of the Year awards. Their leadership has clearly played a significant role in the team's success.
Acosta also received the conference's first Elite-9 Academic Award, which is an award given to the student-athlete with the highest GPA competing in the championship.
