Dillard 2021 Summer Camps
After being forced to take a one-year hiatus out of precaution because of the pandemic caused nationally by COVID-19, the Dillard athletics department is set to host six different sport camps this summer.

The Dillard track & field program, led by reigned GCAC Men’s Track and Field Coach of the Year Nile Legania, will host a one-day DU Track Speed Camp on June 5 at the Dent Hall from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m.. The camp is co-ed and open to all ages from 4-18 or grades Pre-K to 12th. The cost of the camp is $30.00. Among the areas that will be focused on are teaching proper running form, speed training and plyometrics. The Dillard men’s basketball team, led by Head Coach Mike Newell, is set to host a pair of camps this summer. The first camp will occur from June 22 – June 24 from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. each day at Dent Hall. The second men’s basketball is from July 13 - July 15 from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. daily at Dent Hall. The camps are co-ed with everyone from the ages 8-18 or those in grades 3rd – 12th invited to sign up and participate. Both camps are designed for beginners, intermediate and advance students. The camps are drill oriented with particular focus on proper footwork, passing, shooting and ball handling. The purpose of the camps is to advance the current skill set of all that attend. The cost of each camp is $175.00 per person per camp with all campers getting a Dillard camp t-shirt and a basketball. The Dillard volleyball team, led by reigning GCAC Volleyball Coach of the Year Lashaunda Spurgeon, will host three camps this summer at Dent Hall. The first camp, the Mini Bleu Devil Camp, is from June 14- June 16 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. daily. This camp provides a place for kids aged 4-12 to play and have fun. The camp will be an introduction to the basics skills of the game of volleyball. The campers will get to enjoy free play, arts & crafts, activities and much more. Lunch will be included in the camp costs of $140 per person. The second camp, the DU Volleyball All Skills Camp, is from June 28 -June 29 from 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. each day at Dent Hall. The camp is for those females aged 13-15 or entering grades 6th – 9th. The camp is geared toward volleyball players looking to further their present skill set with focus on all aspects of the game with an emphasis on fundamentals. The price of the camp is $140.00. The third hosted camp, the Dillard Volleyball Jr./Sr. ID Camp, is on July 24 from 8 a.m. – 11 a.m. at Dent Hall. The third camp is focused on females from the ages of 16-18 or in grades 11th – 12th. This camp is designed to give players a collegiate training experience from the Dillard volleyball staff, while getting to showcase their skills. Players will take part in all skill drills as well as games while working under the direction of the coaching staff. Dillard University campus tours will be provided on July 23 to everyone that asks and RSVPs in advance. The cost of the camp is $75.00.
