Bleu Devils Defeat Philander, Improving their Record

NEW ORLEANS- In a thrilling volleyball match-up between Philander Smith University and Dillard University on October 5, 2024, the Bleu Devils emerged victorious with a final score of 3-1. The game took place at Dent Hall in New Orleans, LA, with an attendance of 150 spectators.

Dillard started strong, winning the first two sets with scores of 25-15 and 25-23. Philander Smith fought back in the third set, taking it 25-22. However, Dillard ultimately secured the victory by winning the fourth set 26-24.

Key players for Panthers included Zarea Winn with 17 kills and Essence Wren with 40 assists. For Dillard University, Vanae Sapp led the way with 17 kills and Tyramae Fautanu with 19 assists.

Overall, Dillard's strong offensive performance, with a .163 attack percentage compared to Philander's .133, helped them secure the win. The victory improved Dillard's record to 9-5, while Philander's record moved to 13-3.
