Dillard Falls to Southern University A&M in Three Sets
Baton Rouge, LA - The Dillard University volleyball team faced off against Southern University A&M in a thrilling match at Seymour Gymnasium on September 26, 2023. Despite their best efforts, Dillard was unable to secure a victory, falling to Southern University A&M in three sets.
Southern University A&M dominated the match, winning all three sets with scores of 25-12, 25-19, and 25-18. In the first set, Dillard struggled to find their rhythm, committing several errors. Southern University A&M took advantage of Dillard's mistakes and secured a comfortable victory. The second set saw Dillard improve their performance, but they could not overcome Southern University A&M's strong offense. Dillard fought hard in the third set, but Southern University A&M's consistent play and strong blocking proved to be too much for them. Despite the loss, several Dillard players had standout performances. Sara Da Silva led the team with seven kills, while Vanae Sapp contributed six kills. Taylor Hurst provided excellent setting, finishing with nine assists. Defensively, Chasry Lum-King led the team with eight digs. Southern University A&M's Elise Doomes and Jordan Felix were the standout players for their team. Doomes finished with ten kills and a hitting percentage of 0.4, while Felix recorded 22 assists and seven digs. Dillard will look to bounce back from this loss in their upcoming matches against conference opponent, Talladega College. That game is scheduled for September 30th at 5:00 PM in Dent Hall.
