Women's Track & Field Demonstrate Athletic Prowess at NAIA Nationals
GAINESVILLE, FL– The women's track & field team competed in the NAIA Nationals from Feb. 27 to March 1 in several events and were able to demonstrate the athletic prowess that Dillard University track and field is known for.
Kevell Byrd had an impressive performance in track and field adding two more NAIA All-American titles to her name in both the 400-meter and 200-meter events. Her achievements highlight her exceptional speed and dedication to the sport. Being recognized as an All-American is a significant honor as it reflects her hardwork and talent. Byrd's success serves as an inspiration for other athletes who aspire to reach similar heights in their careers.
Tori Burton also showcased her skills on the track competing in the 60-meter and 200-meter races. She recorded times of 7.71 seconds in the 60m and 25.50 seconds in the 200m earning her rankings of #15 and #16 respectively. These results demonstrate her strong sprinting abilities and commitment to improving her performance. Burton's rankings indicate that she is among the top competitors in her events which is a noteworthy achievement.
Ta'nijal Matthews and Ta'nyia Flowers also contributed to their teams with commendable performances. Matthews competed in the 60m with a time of 7.96 seconds and in the 200m with a time of 25.90 seconds. Meanwhile Flowers finished with a time of 25.86 seconds in the 200m earning her a ranking of #19. These athletes exemplify the spirit of competition and hard work demonstrating that they are making strides in their respective events.Their efforts reflect the dedication and talent present in the sport of track and field. The ladies will be transitioning to outdoor events with their first meet being March 21-22 as the Sean Brady Opener was cancelled due to inclement weather.
