3 Freshman Show Their Natural Talent in Bleu Devil Indoor Track Classic
NEW ORLEANS– Johnson, Walker and Snowden, three freshman, demonstrated their true skill on Jan. 11 breaking records and qualifying for nationals.
Freshman Laila Johnson opened her season up in the 60m, finishing fourth with a time of 9.88. Johnson also qualified for nationals on the 4x4 which shattered the school record.
Freshman Shaloni Walker continues her undefeated season. Walker won the Long jump and triple jump.
Freshman Reign Snowden Shattered the school record in weight throw, beating the mark by 2m. Snowden's throw of 14.19m is #1 in school history. On the day, Snowden also finished fourth in shot put with a mark of 10.59m.
Ta'nyia Flowers finished third in the 60m (7.70) and second in the 200m (24.74). Flowers 60m time is #10 all time in school history.
Darneè Williams finished fourth in the 200m. Williams also finished third in shot put (11.33m), her mark is #5 all time in school history.
Te'a Harris making her debut finished sixth in the 200m.
Yasmin Pines dropped 2 seconds off her season best in the 400m.
Senior Charra Bridges threw a lifetime best in weight throw (11.32) and she also finished six on the day in shot put (9.54)
Kevell Byrd, Ta'nijal Matthews and Tori Burton had light duties during the meet only running the 4x4. That 4x4 with freshman Laila Johnson is the #3 4x4 in the NAIA and #1 in Dillard history Indoors.
