3 Runners make Qualifying Marks for Indoor Nationals in Season Opener

NEW ORLEANS– On December 6, 2024 Dillard University participated in the New Orleans Triangular Winter Classic where they competed against Loyola and Xavier University. Though the meet was hosted at Tad Gormley Stadium, the runners ran indoor races. Byrd, Matthews and Burton made qualifying marks for nationals.
Ta'nijal Matthews won the 60m with a time of 7.61s and placed 3rd in the 200m with a time of 24.73s. Both are B standard marks for nationals.
Tori Burton finished 2nd in the 60m with a time of 7.64s and the 200m with a time of 24.71s. Both are B standard marks for nationals.
Kevell Byrd won the 200m with a time of 24.60s and 3rd in the 60m finishing with a time of 7.65s. Both are qualifying marks for nationals.
Ta'nyia Flowers finished 4th in the 60m with a time of 7.89s.
Laila Johnson, a freshman won the 400m with a time of 1:02.31.
Desire Robinson finished 2nd in the 400m with a time of 1:02.67.
Yasmin Pines finished 5th in the 400m.
Cailtyn Gordon finished 2nd in the 600m with a time of 1:57.33.
Shaloni Walker won the long jump with a mark of 4.94m.
Reign Snowden won the weight throw with a mark of 11.27m which is the #2 throw in school history. The school record is now on alert. Snowden finished 2nd in the shot put with a mark of 9.85m.
Charra Bridges, a senior, finished 2nd in the weight throw with a mark of 9.39m and 7th in the shot put with a mark of 9.27m.
The women's track & field team will be back in action on Janurary 10.
