NEW ORLEANS– In a recent collegiate tennis clash on February 11, 2025, Xavier University Louisiana hosted Dillard University Louisiana, showcasing a series of competitive matches that culminated in a decisive 4-1 victory for Xavier.

The event kicked off with doubles matches where Xavier demonstrated a strong start. In the #1 doubles match, the duo of Mbali Langa and McKenna Wheatley from Xavier secured a hard-fought 7-5 win against Anja Hriblijan and Truc Tran of Dillard. Meanwhile, in the #2 doubles match, Hana Moss and Amira Bergaoui from Xavier triumphed over Valentina Gomez and Brunella Gomez, winning 6-4. However, Dillard's team of Hang Nguyen and Weichiao Chen managed to claim a victory in the #3 doubles match, overpowering Sydney Green and Sanai LeSure from Xavier with a dominant 6-1 score.

As the competition moved to singles matches, Xavier continued to assert their dominance. In the #1 singles match, Amira Bergaoui from Xavier displayed remarkable skill, defeating Dillard's Hang Nguyen in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4. The #2 singles match saw Truc Tran from Dillard securing a win against Mbali Langa, with scores of 7-6, 7-2, 6-1, providing Dillard with their sole singles win of the day. However, Xavier's players quickly regained control in the remaining matches. McKenna Wheatley showed her prowess in the #3 singles match, decisively beating Anja Hriblijan, 6-2, 6-0. In a similar fashion, Hana Moss overcame Weichiao Chen with a 6-3, 6-2 victory in the #4 singles. Sydney Green further extended Xavier's lead by defeating Valentina Gomez, 6-3, 6-1, in the #5 singles match. Finally, Sanai LeSure concluded the successful run for Xavier, securing a win over Brunella Gomez with a 7-5, 0-1 score in the #6 singles match.
