2024 NAIA Women’s Tennis Championship Schedule Released
MOBILE, Ala. – [Bracket | Schedule/Results] The 43rd annual NAIA Women's Tennis National Championship is scheduled to open play on Tuesday, May 14 at the Mobile Tennis Center in Mobile, Ala., with the first round getting started at 1:00 p.m. CT.
The first round will consist of eight team matches, the winners of each will advance to face the top eight seeds, all of which received a bye to the second round, on Wednesday, May 15. Eight teams will advance each day with the championship set to commence at 1:00 p.m. CT on Saturday, May 18.
Championship Notes
- Georgia Gwinnett is in pursuit of its eighth-consecutive NAIA Women's Tennis Red Banner
- Indiana Wesleyan has the most tournament appearances in the field with 24
- Georgia Gwinnett boasts the best record of the teams in championship play with a perfect 14-0 record
- 20 of the 24 teams in the field are returning from 2023
- Dillard (La.) is making its first appearance in the championship field
- Georgia Gwinnett has the best championship record, at 35-1
- This is the 20th consecutive year for the championship to be hosted by the Mobile Tennis Center
- The field consists of 15 automatic berths (including one host berth to Mobile (Ala.)), and nine at-large selections
- Georgia Gwinnett currently sits in second place all-time for championships
- Former member Auburn Montgomery (Ala.) leads with 14 national titles
- The Marvin P. Richmond Outstanding Player Award has been given to a player from Georgia Gwinnett for the last seven-consecutive years
- Justine Lespes of GGC won the award last season while the Grizzlies' Iryna Lysykh won it in both 2021 and 2022. Both remain on the roster in 2024.
