The Dillard Women’s Tennis Team Downed 6-1 By Visiting Texas Wesleyan University on Saturday

New Orleans – After seeing their original match against Blue Mountain College postponed due to weather, the Dillard University women's tennis team (1-8) added a match to the schedule over the weekend against Texas Wesleyan University. The program fell to the Lady Rams 6-1 on Saturday, March 12, at XULA's Tennis Center

The Bleu Devils lost in the opening doubles match 7-6 with the team of Prerana Koirala – Kaavya Palani falling to the team of Aurora Novanti – Thamara Pinto from Texas Wesleyan.

The second doubles pairing of  Kayla Hennigan – Hafsa Sanhaji lost 4-0 to TWU's team of Caitlin Souvannavong – Kara Antonio.

Texas Wesleyan won the third doubles match by default as Dillard only had four competing players.

In singles play, Palani won in the number one 6-7, 7-5, 10-6 to Novanti

In the second-seed Nicole Straznicky defeated Koirala 7-6, 4-6, 13-11

The third-seed saw Texas Wesleyan's Thamara Pinto defeat Sanhaji 6-4, 7-5.

In the fourth singles spot was an injury victory for TWU's Antonio over Dillard's Hennigan.

The fifth and sixth singles were default victories for TWU's Souvannavong and Cecilia Salazar, respectfully.

Next, the DU women takes on Xavier University of Louisiana on Friday, March 18, at 3 p.m. at XULA's Tennis Center.
