Bleu Devils No Match for Cowgirls
Lake Charles, LA- In their season opener, McNeese State University's women's basketball team showcased their dominance against Dillard University, winning the game with a final score of 76-47.
From the start, McNeese took control of the game, outscoring Dillard in every quarter. The first quarter saw McNeese taking a commanding lead with a score of 21-8. They continued to build on their lead in the second quarter, ending the first half with a score of 41-17.
Dillard University struggled to find their rhythm throughout the game. Their shooting percentage was only 26.2%, with the team making just 17 out of 65 attempts from the field. Jakyah Amous was the leading scorer for Dillard, contributing eight points and grabbing 12 rebounds.
McNeese's strong defensive effort limited Dillard's opportunities, forcing them into 28 turnovers. McNeese capitalized on these turnovers, scoring 22 points off of them. Their defensive intensity was evident with three blocked shots and 17 steals.
Overall, McNeese's dominant performance in their season opener showcased their potential for a successful season. Their strong offense and suffocating defense proved to be too much for Dillard University to handle. Dillard is still in search of their first win and will look to add to the win column against Trinity Baptist on Homecoming. That matchup will take place at 1:00 pm on Saturday, November 11th.
