New Orleans,LA- Dillard women's basketball got off to a great in their second round-up of the season. They started with two tough wins over Oakwood University and Tougaloo college, but they did not have enough in the tank to knock- off Philander Smith College. This would be the first time the Women's team has won back-to-back games this season. Dillard now ties in the conference for sixth place with Oakwood University. The Bleu Devils get a chance to regroup as they get ready to face off against rival SUNO, Monday, Jan. 30th.
The Bleu Devils would prevail past the Oakwood Ambassadors, A team that defeated them last week, by a score of 62-58. Taylor Dewitt lead the way for the Bleu Devils with 14 points and also grabbed 8 rebounds. Former all-conference performer Diniaa McZeal would knock in 10 points and hustle for 3 rebounds. Sydni Jonh - Baptiste and Erika Diaz would have 8 points each to lead the Blue Devils to victory.
Against Tougaloo, Dillard would get out to a lead and never look back. They never trailed at any point in this game due to Taylor Dewitt's 14 points and 8 rebounds. Ariana Hart and Jordyn Rowe had great performances earning 11 points each. Hart would just miss a double-double with 9 rebounds and her passing was also on display with 6 assists. Cassidy Lowe also played an active part grabbing 6 rebounds and having 6 steals to go with the 6 points she scored.
Dillard would come up just short of Philander Smith 63-53 to complete a great weekend of competition. Diniaa McZeal played a large role with 15 points off the bench. Ariana Hart would once again be amongst the leaders on the team in points with 12. Hart would also grab 6 rebounds and have 5 steals. Ayani Cockrell would make an impact on the game with 7 points and 2 rebounds as well. It was a complete game by the Bleu Devils but they could not outlast PSC.
