The Dillard Women’s Basketball Team Wins Road Rematch With Fisk University, 85-79, On Saturday
Nashville, Tenn. – The Dillard women's basketball team (9-12, 2-3 GCAC) had a strong offensive showing in winning the team's rematch with Fisk University (8-16, 2-4 GCAC) by an 85-79 score on the road at Henderson A. Johnson Arena on Saturday, Feb. 5.
Diniaa McZeal went off for 25 points. She also had three assists and two steals. Sharan Turner contributed 16 points, six rebounds, two blocks and a steal. Tia Perry picked up nine points, 11 rebounds, three steals and a block. Cassidy Lowe totaled 12 points, four rebounds, two steals and a block. Jordyn Rowe also reached double figures with 11 points and four assists. Taylor Dewitt had four points and three rebounds. Erika Diaz totaled three assists.
Fisk was led by 28 points from Mya Allen. Allen also had five assists, four rebounds and three steals. Ty Gardner picked up 16 points and six rebounds. Katia Cummings totaled six points and eight rebounds.
For the game, Dillard shot 28-for-64 from the field (43.8 percent), 11-for-30 from three-point range (36.7 percent), 18-for-28 from the line (64.3 percent). The program also had 43 rebounds, 19 assists, 11 steals and four blocks.
The Lady Bulldogs were 30-61 from the field (37 percent), 7-for-23 from three-point range (30.4 percent) and 12-for-16 from the line (75 percent). Fisk also had 50 rebounds, 19 assists and nine steals.
Fisk held a 19-14 lead after the first 10 minutes, but Dillard stormed back to led 39-35 at the break. The Lady Bleu Devils kept the offensive pressure on in the second half and outscored the Lady Bulldogs 46-44 on the way to the 85-79 victory.
The team now returns home to host Tougaloo College on Saturday, Feb.12, at 5:30 p.m. at Dent Hall in the Bleu Devil Classic.
