The contest commenced with Louisiana Christian's Emma Hunt scoring the first run in the opening inning, thanks to a double by Carly Koch that sent Hunt home. Dillard, however, responded in the third inning with a run from Nailah Long bolstered by a double from De'Asia Davenport, leveling the score.
