Xavier Stages Late Comeback to Defeat Dillard in Close Game
New Orleans, LA - In a thrilling college softball matchup, Xavier (LA) staged a comeback to defeat Dillard (LA) by a score of 8-6.
Dillard (LA) turned the game around in the second inning, scoring five runs to take a commanding lead. M. Landry's single brought home J. Hamilton, and P. Bevan's single added two more runs. A. Jones then hit a triple, driving in three runs and giving Dillard (LA) a 5-1 advantage.
Xavier (LA)'s Late Rally:
Trailing 6-2 heading into the sixth inning, Xavier (LA) mounted a comeback. A. Williams' single brought home C. Parker, narrowing the gap to 6-3. M. Jimmie's sacrifice fly then brought in M. Winston, making it a 6-4 game. C. Keyes and Ka. Evans each added an RBI, tying the score at 6-6. Xavier (LA) completed their comeback when C. Buford hit a single, bringing in two runs and giving them an 8-6 lead.
The game was a testament to the competitive spirit of Dillard softball, putting up a strong fight. Dillard will look to carry this momentum into their next contest, which will be held on February 18, 2024 time slated for 3pm.
