Men'sTrack & Field Breaks School Records at NAIA Nationals
GAINESVILLE, FL– Members of the men's track and field team participated in the NAIA Indoor Nationals from Feb. 27- March 1. Representing Dillard on a national scale in numerous events.
Christopher Watson had an impressive performance in the long jump, finishing third overall at the competition. He recorded a lifetime best jump of 7.35 meters, showcasing his hard work and dedication to the sport. He also received his first All-American honor with his mark and had a podium finish of 3rd place. This achievement not only highlights his athletic ability but also puts him in a strong position for future events. Watson's success is a great reminder of how commitment and training can lead to personal milestones and recognition in athletics.
Jamaal Morris Jr. also shined at the 2025 NAIA Indoor Nationals, competing in both the 60 meters and 200 meters. He finished the 60m race in 6.79 seconds and the 200m in 21.47 seconds. These results demonstrate his speed and versatility as a sprinter. Morris Jr.'s performance is a significant achievement, reflecting his talent and potential for even greater success in future competitions. His efforts contribute to a strong team dynamic and inspire his teammates to push their limits.
In the 400m, Mark Emilien and Darren Petty Jr. performed admirably, finishing 12th and 14th, respectively, with times of 48.63 seconds and 49.19 seconds. Markel Myles also competed in the 600m, finishing 22nd. The men's 4x400 relay team finished in 9th place with a time of 3:13.80. Together, these athletes demonstrated great teamwork and perseverance, contributing to a competitive atmosphere at the nationals. Each runner's experience adds valuable lessons and skills that they can carry into their future events. The athletes will be transitioning to outdor season with their first outdoor meet being March 21-22 after the Sean Brady Opener was postponed due to inclement weather.
