Men's Track has Resilient Performance at McNeese
LAKE CHARLES, LA– Robert Jackson had an impressive performance, finishing 5th in both the 55m and 200m sprints. With times of 6.73 seconds and 23.15 seconds respectively, he stood out among a field of strong Division 1 athletes. These finishes contribute positively to his team's overall standing and demonstrate the level of competition in track and field.
This week, Coach Legania shifted focus to the 400m event, where six Bleu Devils took the challenge seriously. Markel Myles led the group with an impressive 2nd place finish at 50.23 seconds, closely followed by Mark Emilien in 3rd with a time of 50.59 seconds. Darren Petty Jr. and Christopher Watson also put forth commendable efforts, finishing 4th and 5th respectively. Watson not only excelled in the 400m but also secured 3rd place in long jump, showcasing his versatility as an athlete. Jordan Winder and Jeremy Geary rounded off the Bleu Devils' participation, showing perseverance in their 7th and 12th place finishes.
In relays, the men's 4x400m team fought valiantly, pushing McNeese State University to the limit. Though narrowly defeated, their performance highlighted the competitive spirit and teamwork within the squad, as their time now ranks them 6th in the NAIA. Furthermore, senior Daniel Martinez shone in the 1-mile run, recording a season-best time of 5:46.33. In the throws, Stanley Rhone and Damion Hammond Jr. continued to excel in weight throw, achieving personal bests that underscore their dedication. Overall, the team is building momentum and growing stronger with each meet.
