Dillard Men's and Women's Track and Field Win GCAC Championships in Shreveport
SHREVEPORT, La. – The Gulf Coast Athletic Conference 2024 Track and Field Championships ended with Dillard University sweeping the event. Dillard's women win their third consecutive championship, amassing 290 points. The men scored 236 points to take this year's title and win their fourth straight GCAC Championship.
Dillard also had a combined four MVPs: Men's Track MVP - Jamaal Morris, Jr.; Men's Field Co-MVP - Nobie Harris; Women's Field MVP - Charra Bridges; and Women's Track MVP - Kevell Byrd.
Byrd stole the show this year, placing first in all four of her events (100m, 200m, 400m, and 4x100m relay).
Wiley University's Isaac Jenkins and Talladega College's Jaylen Harris also received Men's Field Co-MVP honors, scoring 23 points, along with Dillard's Harris.
Talladega's men and women finished second, and Wiley's men and women finished third.
The national office will announce qualifiers for the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships in May.
