Branch Leads the Way for Dillard in the Mardi Gras Indoor Classic
New Orleans,LA- Dillard Track and Field hosted the Mardi Gras Indoor Classic this past weekend. They competed against XULA and Loyola- New Orleans. The men's team put on a good showing as 3 records were broken. Cody Branch has been blazing fast this whole indoor season and Friday's meet was no different. Branch Broke the school record in the 400m and PR in the 60m. Coach Nile said, "We are getting better and that's going to be scary for a lot of people". Dillard seem to be peeking at the right time as they inch closer to NAIA Indoor Nationals.
Cody Branch- Qualified in the 400m breaking the school record with a time of 48.91. Branch has quailed in four events for nationals. On the day Branch also ran a blistering times of 6.88 in the 60m, a lifetime best moving him into the top 5 all time in school history.
Daniel Martinez- Broke the school record on the 1000m, bettering his mark with a time of 2:57.42. Martinez now owns the #1 and #2 time in school history.
Jordan Yates- Broke his own 60h record with a time of 8.61, his previous best was 8.80 which was set last season. Yates owns 7 spots in the top 10.
Johnathan Kitchen- Continues to put separation between himself and every thrower in school history. He has now put his name on the weight throw top 10 with 3 spots in the top 6. Kitchen is just inches away from the school record.
