Dillard Set to Host First Meet to Start Season

New Orleans,LA- Dillard University Track and Field will kick off their season this Friday, January 13th, at Joe Brown park for the Bleu Devil Track Indoor Classic. This will be the beginning of what may turn out to be another historic season for the Bleu Devils. Coach Nile Legania stated," I'm excited about the start of the season, we're looking to build off the success we've had over the last two seasons in 2023". The Confidence of coach Nile comes from the 6 returners from last year's championship team as well as some impressive newcomers. Jamaal Morris Jr. , Cody Branch, And Kaleb McClendon are the key returners for the men's team. Kevel Byrd, Ta'nijal Matthews, and Rachel Rowe are some of the impactful returners for the women's team. Coach Nile and his Staff also hit the recruiting trail hard and have brought in some freshmen and transfers that they think will be difference-makers. Among the freshman that has big expectations are Ta'Niya Flowers, Dalia Young, Trinity Marshall, and Meghan Joshua. Some key transfers for the Bleu Devils track program are Mark Emilien, Darren Petty Jr., and Tashina Beyioku-Alase.

Dillard will host Xavier-Louisiana, Loyola-New Orleans, University of Mobile, Jarvis Christian, Jacksonville College, and Huston-Tillotson - College. The event schedule is listed below(all running events will take place in the order they're listed starting at 11 am):
