NEW ORLEANS –In an exciting college basketball matchup on January 25, 2025, Dillard University showcased a powerful performance against Southern University at New Orleans, securing a convincing 90-71 victory at Dent Hall. This win not only bolstered Dillard's impressive season record to 13-5 overall and 9-2 in conference play but also demonstrated their offensive prowess.
The game commenced with both teams showcasing a competitive spirit, but Dillard managed to gain an early edge, leading 36-31 by halftime. Dillard's offensive momentum surged in the second half as they outscored Southern University 54-40, culminating in a 19-point victory margin.
Bentravin Phillips and Tory Cargo were instrumental for Dillard, contributing 19 and 20 points respectively. Phillips, playing 47 minutes, also added four steals and five assists, making significant contributions on both ends of the floor.
