The Dillard Men’s Basketball Down by the University of New Orleans, 93-66, on Tuesday
New Orleans – The Dillard men's basketball team (5-11) lost their exhibition contest, 93-66, against NCAA Division I the University of New Orleans on Tuesday evening, Jan. 11, at Lakefront Arena.
Elijah Moore lead the team in scoring with 20 points. Jeremiah August had a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds. Rajhan Billingsley also reached double figures in rebounds with 11 to go along with eight points. Shemar Bates totaled nine points and two steals in his first game of the season. Mekai Pope recorded seven points and four rebounds. Taiveyhon Mason picked up six points. Nicholas Carmouche led the team with six assists.
For UNO, five players reached double figures with Troy Green leading the team with 20 points. He also had six rebounds. Rodney Carson recorded 17 points. Kmani Doughty totaled 13 points and two steals. Daniel Sackey recorded 11 points, eight assists, seven rebounds and two steals. Tyson Jackson had 12 points.
Dillard shot 28-for-79 from the field (35.4 percent), 3-for-21 from three-point range (13.6 percent) and 7-for-10 from the free throw line (70 percent). The program also picked up 41 rebounds, 13 assists, four blocks and seven steals. The Privateers shot 40-for-73 from the field (54.8 percent), 8-for-19 (42.1 percent) from three-point range and 5-for-8 (62.5 percent) from the free throw line. UNO also totaled 46 rebounds, 25 assists, six blocks and five steals.
UNO led 46-32 at the half and outscored Dillard 47-34 over the final 20 minutes. DU lead early in this one as the game featured two tied scores and lead changes.
The men's basketball team is next in action on Thursday, Jan. 13, when the program takes on NAIA No. 3 nationally ranked Talladega at 6 p.m. at Dent Hall.
