The Dillard Men’s Basketball Team Reschedules Road Game Against the University of New Orleans for Jan. 11 at 7 p.m.
New Orleans – The Dillard University men's basketball team announced today, Jan. 4, that it is rescheduling its exhibition contest against NCAA Division I University of New Orleans for Jan. 11 at 7 p.m. at Lakefront Arena. The original game was scheduled for Dec. 17 before it needed to be postponed. Dillard's next scheduled game is a rematch and home game against Arkansas Baptist University on Saturday, Jan. 8, at 2 p.m. at Dent Hall.
Next week's game against UNO is the first time that Dillard will play against Privateers since the 2011-12 season.
Dillard (5-10) will enter the second half of the schedule against ABU on Jan. 8 looking to break a two-game losing skid after falling to LSU Shreveport (L, 90-62 – Dec. 13) and Wiley College (L, 76-69 – Dec. 14) on the road before the holidays. Dillard has four players that are averaging in double figures this year and are being led by Jay Malone's 15.7 points a game. Malone also leads the team in steals with 31 and is second in assists with 40. Malone has been named the GCAC Player of the Week three times this season. Kaleb Allison sports an average of 13.8 points and 7.7 rebounds per game. Allison is also shooting 54 percent from the field. Elijah Moore is getting 13 points and 5.5 rebounds per game. Moore is second on the squad in steals with 29 and third in assists with 46. Taiveyhon Mason is getting 12.8 points per game. Mason leads the team with his 54 assists and is third in steals with 22. Jeremiah August leads the team in rebounding with 10.7 boards per contest. Tyrus Crawford is averaging nearly a double-double at 8.3 and 9.6 rebounds per game. Rajhan Billingsley is getting 7.3 points per game. Dillard has played one of the toughest schedules in the NAIA this season with six games against teams that were either ranked or receiving votes at the time of the game including facing off with the top ranked team in country in Loyola University of New Orleans twice. DU is averaging 74.6 points per game while shooting 42.1 percent from the field, 29.1 percent from three-point range and 61.4 percent from the free throw line. The team is also getting 45.7 rebounds per game and are averaging 15.73 assists per game.
