The Dillard Men’s Basketball Team Advances To The Semifinals Of the GCAC Tournament With 73-53 Victory over Fisk University on Friday

Little Rock, Arkansas – The Dillard men's basketball team (10-16) had a truly dominate effort in defeating Fisk University (3-26) by a 73-53 score on Friday afternoon in the quarterfinals of the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference (GCAC) at Mims Gymnasium.

Elijah Moore put on a show with 27 points on 9-for-14 shooting from the field. He also had five rebounds, two assists and a steal. Kaleb Allison had a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Rajhan Billingsley totaled nine points and five rebounds. Jeremiah August stuffed the stat sheet with four points, 14 rebounds and four steals. Mekai Pope came off the bench with six points. Nicholas Carmouche recorded four points and a steal. Shemar Bates tallied four points, two rebounds, an assist and a block. Kenneth Bates recorded two points, a rebound and a block.

For Fisk University, Ethan Jones led the club with 13 points, 13 rebounds and two blocks. Devyn Payne and Ralph Davenport also both reached double figures with 10 points.

Dillard shot 28-for-63 from the field (44.4 percent), 6-for-19 from three-point range (31.6 percent) and 11-for-14 from the free throw line (78.6 percent). The program also picked up 44 rebounds, nine assists, six steals and two blocks.

The Bulldogs shot 20-for-64 from the field (31.3 percent), 7-for-25 (28 percent) from three-point range and 6-for-8 (75 percent) from the free throw line. Fisk University also totaled 37 rebounds, 14 assists, five steals and three blocks.

Dillard led throughout in a game that featured two tied scores and seven lead changes. The program had a 43-25 lead at the break and coasted to a 73-53 victory. The program's largest lead was 23 midway through the second half. DU led for 36:14 of the 40 minutes in the game.

Next, the men's basketball team advances to take on top seed and host school Philander Smith on Saturday evening, Feb. 26, at 7 p.m. at Mims Gymnasium.
