Dillard Men’s Basketball Team Nearly Fights All The Way Back In 74-71 Loss to Rust College
Holly Springs, Miss. – The Dillard men's basketball team (9-16, 4-4 GCAC), after trailed by as much as 19 points, storming nearly all the way back before getting edged by a 74-71 score by Rust College (12-14, 4-4 GCAC) on Monday, Feb. 21, in Holly Springs, Miss.
Kaleb Allison led the team with his 15 points. He also had seven rebounds and a block. Elijah Moore totaled 14 points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals. Jeremiah August had a double-double of 10 points and 15 rebounds. Rajhan Billingsley totaled nine points and six rebounds. Nicholas Carmouche tallied nine points and four assists. Mekai Pope came off the bench to score nine points. He also had four rebounds and two steals. Cinque Harris had a pair of points and rebounds.
For Rust College, Ronald Strothers led all scorers with 21 points. Keshon Tabb picked up 15 points and nine rebounds. Malik Anderson had nine points and six rebounds. Wesley Anderson recorded 12 assists.
Dillard shot 28-for-65 from the field (43.8 percent), 2-for-14 from three-point range (14.3 percent) and 10-for-15 from the free throw line (66.7 percent). The program also picked up 43 rebounds, nine assists and eight steals.
The Bearcats shot 27-for-65 from the field (41.5 percent), 12-for-29 (41.4 percent) from three-point range and 8-for-16 (50 percent) from the free throw line. Rust College also totaled 38 rebounds, 18 assists, nine steals and three blocks.
Dillard trailed at the break by a 35-26 score, but stormed back in the final 20 minutes to outscore Rust 45-39 to make the final score 74-71.
Next, the men's basketball team await its seeding for the upcoming GCAC Basketball Tournament from Feb. 25-27 in Little Rock, Arkansas.
