TOUGALOO, MS– In an impressive display of baseball prowess, Dillard University triumphed over Tougaloo College with a decisive 10-1 win at Earl Sanders Field in Tougaloo, Mississippi. The game, part of the HBCUAC conference, saw Dillard improve their record to 14-12 overall and 9-6 in the conference, while Tougaloo fell to 7-22 overall and 3-11 in the conference.
Dillard University set the tone early, scoring three runs in the first inning and maintaining their momentum throughout the game. Key players for Dillard included Braylon Guerin, Derrald Moore Jr., and Jaylen Mateo, who each contributed significantly to the team's total of 12 hits. Mateo was particularly effective, driving in three runs, while Moore Jr. added another with his strong performance. Jalen Ayers also made a notable impact, with four RBIs to his name.
Dillard's pitching was equally strong, with Kejuan Burnett pitching a complete game. Burnett allowed only one unearned run on five hits while striking out eight batters, demonstrating exceptional control and composure on the mound.
