NEW ORLEANS– In a high-scoring showdown on March 16, 2025, the Dillard University baseball team triumphed over the Stillman Tigers with an 18-7 victory. The game, played at Dillard's home field, saw the home team unleash an impressive offensive performance, outpacing their opponents by a significant margin.
The Stillman Tigers started strong, with Minor and Heming contributing to a quick two-run lead in the first inning. Heming's triple to center field allowed Minor to score, followed by Hicks' single that brought Heming home.
Dillard University quickly took control in the bottom of the first inning. A single by Jaylen Mateo and a powerful home run by Angel Polanco, which also brought Jalen Ayers and Mateo home, gave Dillard a 4-2 lead.
The third inning saw Dillard extend their lead with a sacrifice fly by K'Wality Williams, scoring Ayers. However, it was the fifth inning that proved decisive. Dillard exploded with a 10-run rally, featuring a blend of singles, walks, and another home run by Polanco. This outburst extended their lead to 15-2.
