Loyola Dominates Dillard in a Shutout Victory
WESTWEGO, LA – March 11, 2025, at Segnette Field, Loyola delivered a commanding performance against Dillard (LA), securing a 10-0 victory. The match, which lasted a mere two hours and five minutes, saw Loyola's record improve to 19-5, while Dillard faced another setback, dropping to 9-10.
Loyola wasted no time asserting their dominance, scoring three runs in the first inning. C. Romero initiated the scoring with an RBI single that brought B. Mooney home. L. Manson further extended the lead with a two-RBI single, capitalizing on a fielding error to allow both C. Zeringue and C. Romero to score.
Romero continued to shine in the third inning, adding to Loyola's tally with a solo home run. J. Cambre's two-RBI double, scoring J. Buratt and G. Beadle, who reached home due to another error, pushed the score to 6-0.
Dillard struggled to respond, with their offense stifled by a formidable Loyola pitching lineup. T. Hakimian shone brightly on the mound for Loyola, pitching five strong innings and conceding only two hits while striking out five. The remainder of the game saw H. Ponson and G. Goodbee seamlessly close out the innings.
Loyola's offense continued to impress. D. Lee's fifth-inning RBI single brought A. Fernandez home. G. Beadle's two-run homer in the sixth inning further solidified Loyola's dominance, pushing the score to 9-0. The final blow came in the seventh inning when Beadle again contributed, this time with an RBI single that brought R. Smilari home, sealing the 10-0 victory.
Dillard's pitching struggled to contain Loyola's offensive onslaught. Kejuan Burnett, Dontre Henry, Brandon Dickerson II, and Danik Reed combined efforts but failed to halt the relentless attack. Dillard's defense also faltered, committing three errors that contributed to their inability to contain Loyola's scoring.
Despite the loss, Dillard managed five hits, with Braylon Guerin, Jaylen Mateo, Angel Polanco, K'wality Williams, and Derrald Moore, Jr each contributing. However, their efforts were not enough to overcome Loyola's well-rounded performance.
Loyola's victory was underscored by an impressive display of both offensive prowess and pitching acumen, setting a strong tone as they continue their season.
