Dillard Drop Saturday Pair to XULA

New Orleans, LA - Xavier (LA) came from behind to defeat Dillard in a close baseball game s 9-6.

Dillard took an early lead in the first inning, with W. Green scoring on a double by G. Alveraz. K. Williams then singled, allowing M. Thompson to score, giving Dillard a 2-0 lead. Dillard extended their lead in the third inning when Thompson scored, making it 3-0.

Xavier managed to get on the board in the fourth inning when A. Crews walked, bringing in K. Wright to score. Dillard responded in the fifth inning with a double by K. Williams, bringing in two runs and extending their lead to 5-1.

Xavier fought back in the sixth inning, with Z. Morris hitting a home run and M. Adams scoring on a wild pitch, making it 5-3. Dillard added another run in the sixth inning when D. Moore stole home, making it 6-3.

In the seventh inning, Xavier made a comeback. K. Wright scored on a wild pitch, bringing the score to 6-4. M. Adams then hit a single, bringing in B. Spady and Z. Morris to tie the game at 6-6. Xavier took the lead when A. Crews reached first on an error, allowing M. Adams to score. Xavier added another run when M. Adams scored on an error, making it 8-6. They scored one more run to secure the victory, with the final score being 9-6. Dillard will take on Nicholls State on February 21, 2024 in Thibodaux, LA.
