Dillard Baseball Earns Multiple All-Conference Honors
New Orleans,LA- After having an exceptional inaugural year, Dillard baseball claims multiple all conference honors as well as regular season runner-up. The Bleu Devils got off to a slow start at the beginning of the season but that would only provide them with more experience advancing towards conference play. Dillard finished second in the GCAC standings and also led the conference in many team stat categories. This season has had its up's and down's but the future of Bleu Devil baseball looks to be in good standing. Jorge Guerra(Starting Pitcher) would be the only Bleu Devil to earn a player of the year award as he receive GCAC Pitcher of the Year. He was also elected to the All GCAC First-Team. Dylan Scott(Relief Pitcher) and Jalen Ayers (Third Base) would also find themselves on the All GCAC First-Team. The following individuals would earn All GCAC Second-Team honors: Jamal Allen(Starting Pitcher), Emmanuel Taveras(Outfield), Channing Vernon(Outfield),and Ty'Mitchell McCollough( Shortstop). First year head coach,Trennis Grant, would also receive 2023 GCAC Coach of the Year. The Bleu Devils now look to add a GCAC championship to their resume. Dillard earned a first round bye in the GCAC tournament, so they will play the winner of Oakwood/Wiley on May 28, 2023 at 9 a.m. All of the tournament games will take place at Smith-Wills stadium in Jackson,Ms. All tickets can be purchased on the GCAC webpage.
