Game 1
New Orleans,LA- Dillard Baseball got their chance to join the Dillard/Xavier-NO rivalry. The Bleu Devils would get out to a great start winning game one of the three-game series. Dillard would drop the last two to bring the overall rivalry record to 1-2 in favor of XULA. This outing provided the Bleu Devils with the opportunity to measure themselves to another inner-city opponent. The future looks bright as the Bleu Devils are still finding their way in their inaugural season. The Bleu Devils will be back on the road as they travel to LeTourneau University. This will be another good test for Dillard Baseball in its first year of competition.
Game 1- Dillard held the lead up to the 7th inning until XULA got hot and knocked in 2 runs. This would be Dillard's first opportunity to show resilience and come from behind to win a game. They were clutch scoring 5 runs in the 9th inning to win 11-7. Ty'Mitchlell McCollough had 3 hits and 2 RBIs. He also stole 2 bases to lead the Bleu Devils to victory. Jorge Guerra would pitch the whole game giving up 6 runs and having 8 strikeouts. Guerra would also capture his first win in an impressive outing for the Bleu Devils.
Game 2- Dillard would drop a close contest in the second game 0-1. The one run for XULA would come off a throwing era. Hits were at a minimum for both teams as Dillard had 2 and Xula had 3. Kejaun Burnett who has yet to find his first win this season would have an impressive outing. Burnett had 7 strikeouts with no earned runs. Jonathan Miles would be the only Bleu Devils to put the ball in play the entire game.
Game 3- This whole series was full of nail-biters as the Bleu Devils would only lose by 2 runs in the final contest. The Bleu Devils would not score their first run until the 4th inning and would score in every inning for the remainder of the game. Dillard would use 4 pitchers with Brandon Dickerson taking the loss. Bryson Payne would have been on his best days in the box this season as he had 2 hits and an RBI. Dillard continues to impress as this is only the first season for the program.
