Bio

J’Brionne Helaire is a 2024 graduate of Dillard University. She graduated with a Bachelor of Art in mass communication with a concentration in multimedia journalism. While at Dillard, Helaire completed numerous internships that built her expertise and knowledge in her field.

Prior to her college career, Helaire was a sports photographer for her high school, Cecilia High School where she would travel with the football and basketball teams prior to Covid. It was there that her passion for sports photography blossomed. She is also a freelance photographer having clients in both New Orleans and Lafayette areas.

As a college student, she interned at The New Orleans Advocate, WYES, and Verite News. She’s also completed internships with CBS Sports during the Final Four. Helaire was actively involved, being a four-year member of The Courtbouillon and the Gameday Management Team. She worked her way up in The Courbouillon’s leadership, becoming the editor-in-chief her junior year where she was ultimately responsible for the upkeep of the website as well as assigning, editing and writing stories. Her responsibilities on the Gameday Management team included photographing home games and tournaments.

The last semester of her senior year, Helaire started the Broadcast Team, recruiting students to help her execute her vision with the assistance from her professors, Dr. Bickham and Mr. Davis, as well as Dr. Bell. She was the director of the team until her last day as a student, Dec. 15. The broadcasted games would be live streamed on HBCU+, and later the athletic department’s Youtube.

Returning to her alma mater as S.I.D., Helaire intends to bring a sense of uniformity and cohesiveness to the website and social media. “ I want to showcase Dillard’s stellar athletes and coaches on a level similar to DI schools, making our athletic department marketable and appealing to not only prospective student-athletes but students as well.
