Lady Bleu Devils Lose Season Opener
NEW ORLEANS– Dallas Christian broke open a tight early game with a decisive five-run fifth inning and rolled past Dillard (LA), 11–3, on Saturday afternoon (Jan. 31, 2026) at Dillard University.
Dallas Christian struck first in the top of the first, manufacturing two runs for a 2–0 lead. K. Lewis came around to score the opener, and K. Looper followed with a sacrifice pop-up that brought home J. Saucedo to make it 2–0.
Dillard answered immediately in the bottom half. Kylie Price ripped an RBI double to cut the deficit to 2–1, and a walk to Sa'Vya Sutherland brought home the tying run, evening the score at 2–2 after one.
The turning point came in the third inning. With runners on, Looper delivered a two-run single to put Dallas Christian back in front, 4–2. Moments later, Looper scored on a throw, extending the margin to 5–2.
Dillard scratched back in the fourth when Ca'Terra Bates doubled in Jessica Battiste, trimming it to 5–3 and keeping the game within reach heading to the fifth.
Dallas Christian then put the game away in the fifth with a five-run surge—helped by Dillard defensive miscues and patient at-bats. J. Amparo's RBI single began the inning's scoring, and a sequence of walks and errors allowed Dallas Christian to pile on. The biggest blow on the scoreboard came when G. Carrillo reached on an error that brought home three runs, pushing the lead from 8–3 to 11–3. Dillard couldn't respond in the bottom half, ending the game with Dallas Christian ahead 11–3.
