Dillard has a Solid Performance at the Pelican Relays
Kevell Byrd was the star of the Pelican relays, winning the 200m race with an impressive time of 24.09. Although she came in third in the 400m event with a time of 55.14, her strong performance in the 200m solidified her status as a top contender in the NAIA track and field world.
Ta'nijal Matthews also had a standout performance, finishing fourth in the 200m with a career-best time of 24.79. This achievement not only earned her a spot in the "B" Standard qualifier for the 2024 outdoor national championship but also showcased her potential as a rising star in the sport.
Tori Burton showcased her versatility by competing in both the 200m and the 400m races, with times of 25.36 and 1:01.72, respectively. Ryan Smith exceeded expectations with a lifetime best of 58.79 in the 400m, securing a place in the top ten of the competition.
Desire Robinson achieved a personal best in the 200m with a time of 25.85, while Ta'nyia Flowers breezed through the same distance in 25.40. Amari Sambolah finished fifth in the 800m event with a time of 2:32.48, showcasing her endurance and determination on the track.
In the field events, Trinity Marshall shone with a season-best time of 16.42 in the 100m hurdles. Lauren Hall led the team in shot put with a mark of 9.14m, demonstrating her strength and precision in the throwing events.
Alanni Martin had a solid day in throws, registering marks of 17.50m in javelin and 19.34m in hammer throw. However, it was Charra Bridges who stood out, finishing sixth in javelin with a conference-leading mark of 26.24m, solidifying her position as the top thrower in the competition.
Overall, the Pelican relays were a showcase of talent and dedication from the Bleu Devils track and field team, with each athlete giving their all and leaving their mark on the competition.
