Dillard Women's Track and Field Team Impressive at the Southern Miss Invitational
Ta’nyia Flowers opened up the season in the 100m running a time of 12.24. which ranks her #4 in the GCAC.
Senior Ryan Smith ran the 100m (12.52) which is a season’s best, the 200m (26.01). Smith is #4 in the GCAC in the 200m.
Kevell Byrd ran the 200m in a time of 24.08 which ranks her #4 in the NAIA, #1 in the GCAC and has qualified in 5 events for nationals.
Tori Burton who Is part of the national qualifying 4x1 relay, ran the 200m on the day clocking 25.19 into a -2.2 headwind.
Ta’nijal Matthews also opened up her 2024 200m campaign running a time of 25.44, she has also qualified for the NAIA nationals in the 4x1 relay. Matthews is also the #1 high jumper in conference with a mark of 1.40m.
Desire Robinson ran her first 400h in 2024 and did not disappoint.The sophomore ran a blistering 1:05.83 in her first attempt just outside the national standard.
The distance Trio of Kennedy Timmons(23:15.89), Tazia McGee (25.27.10) and senior Jaelynn Hoffman (23:57.32) all ran the 5000m. The marks are #1, #2 and #3 in the GCAC.
The experienced group of throwers continues to impress in 2024. Lauren Hall has a season’s best in shot put (10.51m) which is #1 in the GCAC. Charra Bridges continues to have a great season in javelin, the junior is ranked #1 (25.52m) which she accomplished at the Southern Miss Invitational. Senior Alanni Martin is on a tear in the hammer throw this season, Martin threw 32.60m on the day ranking her # in the GCAC.
