Dillard University Athletics Has Nine Student-Athletes Recognized As 2022 Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholars
Fairfax, Virginia – Dillard's Athletics Department saw nine of its student-athletes recognized as 2022 Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholars, the magazine Diverse: Issues in Higher Education announced recently.
As the name denotes, the annual Arthur Ashe Jr. edition is part of the magazine's quarter-century legacy of recognizing young, outstanding minority men and women who have distinguished themselves in their academic and athletic pursuits.
In addition to their athletic ability, students named 2022 Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholars must maintain a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.5, be at least a sophomore academically and be active on their campus or in their communities.
Dillard had a pair of First Team selections in Hildevert Lafeuille (men's track & field) and Benjamin Todd (men's track & field). The program had four Second Team selections in Nicholas Carmouche (men's basketball), Kyra McWhorter (women's basketball), Jada O'Mally (volleyball) and Ki'Avian Johnson (volleyball) plus three Third Team selections in Taylor Dewitt (women's basketball), Rayah Haynes (women's basketball) and Kaylyn Turner (women's track & field / cross country / cheerleading).
The DU women's basketball lead all teams at Dillard with three selections, followed by two from both men's track & field and volleyball plus a selection from men's basketball and women's track & field/cross country/cheerleading.
